Who am I, then? Rebecca Tolley-Stokes: mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, friend, colleague, teacher, and dogmother. I’m ambidextrous and clumsy but not sure a correlation exists between the two. Roller derby is my favorite sport to watch; I love roller skating. Nine to five I’m a librarian. We show love by providing way too much information.
I take the MBTI quarterly in hopes that I’ve matured and shed my introverted ways and test as an extrovert, but so far it hasn’t happened. I’m solidly INTP. Also Leo with Scorpio rising. My husband, daughter, and sister are all Scorpios–as are my step-dad and step-mom and interestingly enough my mom and dad are both Virgos and what’s even more wicked is that the steps’ birthday is November 25 and my ‘rents’ birthday is August 30.
A day never goes by without my learning something; I love learning. My curiosity is knows no bounds. Staring at how light shifts and transforms people, places, and things amazes me.
Since I didn’t believe in myself after earning my studio art degree (and took classes in every medium except photography) I went for a “safe” career in librarianship. Becoming a mother helped me realize that life is too short doing the safe thing. Risk taking helps us learn who we are and who we’re called to become and how we’re meant to serve.
I’m one of those people with a camera who are asked to take photos for every occasion. I’m rarely without one and compulsively snap photos. It’s who am I, what I love, and something I do whether I’m paid or not.
